Today's WTF update: Gender stereotypes?

Not being able to access the internet for over 48 hours has made me appreciate how addicted I am to the Internet/how amazing the Internet is. But whatever, that's just me proving how sad I am and you don't really want to read about my *cough* 'life'. Anyway on with the WTF update...

The WTF update:

Gender stereotypes

Stereotypically, girls are whiny and mopey whilst boys hide their emotions and put a brave face on. Well, this is the biggest pile of horseshite I've heard since I was last forced to listen to Capital FM. Almost every girl I know has the capacity to bitch, mope and dramatise. I confess, sometimes I do just feel like baracading myslef inside my bedroom and eating ten consecutive bars of galaxy chocolate. I'm not saying girls are all made of steel, because we're not. But neither are we any more melodramatic as boys. I've listened to many dull, depressing soliloquys from one particular male friend of mine (who shall remain anonymous) about how he can't get this particular girl to go out with him. Obviously, I've sat and listened to my female friends complain but we always seemed to end up bomding over a mutual hatred for bitchy girls/frizzy hair/curfews/homework. Whereas, when I listen to anonymous-boy's *cough* heart-reanching weekly update on how awful everying is I'm literally just listening, I can't get a word in edge ways. Whatever I do say is always 'easy enough for you to say, you don't know what it's like'.

Sure, I think there are more differences between boys and girls than the obvious, physical ones but I think they're a little more complex than 'girls winge and boys put a brave face on'. I've always been a femenist, and read/listen to pretty much anything Caitlin Moran has to say. If you don't know who she is, I recomend researching her or reading one of her books.
